Job Market Researcher

Michael Glawson is a Job Market Researcher at SuccessIf. He came to AI safety from philosophy, after earning a PhD in the ethics of technology from the University of South Carolina. There, he co-created one of the country's pioneering engineering ethics curricula, and went on to author corporate ethics curricula adopted by government offices and multinational corporations. He has taught philosophy and ethics of technology at the University of South Carolina, Georgia State University, and the College of Charleston, and has lectured at venues including Yale and Vassar. His work involves using the tools of philosophical analysis and wisdom traditions to address two challenges at once: mitigating the threats that AI and other sources of existential risk pose to humanity, and easing the psychological and spiritual suffering that arises when we confront those dangers.
